Space and modulation effects

An algorithmic reverb in the spirit of Logic’s ChromaVerb and SilverVerb.

  • Room Type: Plate, Room, Hall (default), Chamber, Cathedral or Ambience. Changing it fades out the old tail.
  • Pre-delay (0 to 500 ms, or a note value with Sync), Size, Decay (0.1 to 20 s), Density, Diffusion, Damping (high-frequency decay) and Low Decay (low frequencies decay 0.5× to 2× as long).
  • Early/Late balances the early reflections against the tail; Mod Rate and Mod Depth move the tail gently against metallic ringing; Width, Low Cut and High Cut shape the result.
  • Freeze holds the current tail indefinitely and stops new input.
  • Dry and Wet levels (Dry 100 %, Wet 30 % by default; turn Dry down on an aux).
  • 14 factory presets, from Vocal Plate and Drum Room to Concert Hall and Frozen Pad.

Logic’s Stereo Delay and Tape Delay in one effect.

  • Mode: Stereo (separate left and right times and feedback, with Cross-feed), Ping-Pong (repeats bounce left and right), Tape (wow, flutter, saturation and a darkening loop; feedback can pass 100 % and self-oscillate) or Digital (clean, one time).
  • Sync (on by default) sets the times as note values (1/1 to 1/32, dotted and triplet), following tempo changes; off, Time L and Time R are 1 ms to 4 s. Link makes the right side follow the left.
  • Feedback L/R, Low Cut and High Cut in the loop, Mod Rate and Mod Depth (chorus on the repeats), and in Tape mode Wow, Flutter, Saturation and Smooth (how slowly a time change glides, like a varispeed tape).
  • Freeze loops what’s in the delay; Width, Dry and Wet set the output.
  • Changing the time never clicks: the clean modes crossfade, Tape glides.
  • 11 factory presets, including Quarter Note, Dotted Eighth, Slapback, Tape Echo and Dub Delay.

A short delay swept by an LFO and mixed with the dry signal, after Logic’s Chorus.

  • Rate (0.05 to 10 Hz) and Intensity (how far the LFO sweeps the delay, up to 6 ms above Delay, which is 2 to 40 ms).
  • Spread offsets the right side’s LFO from the left’s (up to 180°), so even a mono source comes out wide; Mix goes from dry (0 %) to only the chorused copy (100 %, a vibrato).
  • The picture shows the delay over two LFO cycles, left solid and right faded, with a dot where the LFO is while it plays.
  • Factory presets: Classic Chorus, Subtle Width, Lush Pad, 80s Clean Guitar, Doubler, Bass Chorus and Vibrato.

A very short swept delay with feedback: the comb of notches that sweeps up and down the spectrum, after Logic’s Flanger.

  • Rate (0.02 to 10 Hz), Intensity (sweeps the delay up by as much as three octaves from Delay, 0.1 to 5 ms), Feedback (−100 to 100 %; negative values give a hollower sound), Spread and Mix (50 % for the deepest notches).
  • Even at ±100 % feedback the repeats die away; nothing runs off.
  • Factory presets include Classic Flange, Jet Plane, Hollow Metal and Drum Bus Swirl.

All-pass filters swept by an LFO and mixed with the dry signal, after Logic’s Phaser.

  • Rate, Depth (sweeps up to two octaves either side of Frequency, 100 Hz to 4 kHz), Stages (4, 6, 8 or 12: more stages, more notches), Feedback (−100 to 100 %, for a more resonant sweep), Spread and Mix.
  • Changing the number of stages crossfades, so it doesn’t click.
  • Factory presets include Classic Four-Stage, Slow Swirl, Funky Keys and Deep Twelve.

The level moves up and down with an LFO, after Logic’s Tremolo.

  • Sync (on by default) sets the rate as a note value (1/1 to 1/32, dotted and triplet) at the project tempo; while playing, the LFO is locked to the bar, its peak on the beat, so bounces and freezes line up with what you heard. Off, Rate is 0.05 to 20 Hz.
  • Depth: 0 % leaves the sound untouched; 100 % dips to silence.
  • Waveform: Sine, Triangle or Square; Smoothing rounds the square’s edges (they never click, even at 0 %).
  • Stereo Phase offsets the right side’s LFO (0 to 180°); at 180° the sound moves from side to side, an auto-pan.
  • Factory presets include Eighth Notes, Vintage Amp, Sixteenth Chop, Auto-Pan and Helicopter.
