Software instruments and Musical Typing

  • Create an instrument track (New Tracks › Software Instrument). Its Instrument slot holds Marbble Synth by default, a built-in polyphonic synthesizer that responds to pitch bend, sustain, modulation (vibrato) and expression. Choose another built-in instrument (see Marbble Tre and the other synth models) or a VST3 instrument in the New Tracks dialog, the Library, or the strip’s Instrument slot.
  • MIDI input: every connected MIDI input is routed to the selected instrument track (if the selected track isn’t an instrument track, to the first armed one). Devices plugged in later are picked up within a few seconds. Settings › MIDI switches individual inputs off, turns MIDI Thru off (MIDI is then recorded but not played, for keyboards with their own sound) and sets a velocity curve.
  • VST3 instruments receive controllers and pitch bend through their MIDI mapping.
